CDD.13 : « I Felt a Funeral, in my Brain »
Alors que la 13ème édition de C’est Déjà Demain, festival dédié à la jeune création, débute tout bientôt, La Pépinière a, comme chaque année, posé trois questions à chaque artiste ou troupe qui se produira durant la semaine. On poursuit aujourd’hui avec un autre spectacle joué au Loup, I Felt a Funeral, in my Brain, et une interview en anglais, traduite ensuite en français.

La Pépinière : You have been selected to participate in the C’est Déjà Demain festival. Why is it important for you to attend a festival dedicated to young artists?
Sira Aymerich i Besalú : Being selected for CDD.13 is an incredible privilege and a crucial opportunity, especially right after graduating from La Manufacture. It marks a significant first step toward entering the professional arts sector and hopefully building a career. Participating in a festival dedicated to emerging artists is invaluable—it provides a rare platform to showcase our work, connect with other professionals, and have a bit of visibility. It is an essential stepping stone toward making a living from my work rather than relying on secondary jobs. Festivals like these are vital because they create spaces where young artists can be discovered, engage with diverse audiences, and contribute to the artistic landscape. They also allow the public to experience a wide range of voices, reflecting the questions, concerns, and creative visions of our generation.
La Pépinière : What will your show be about? Could you present it in a few words?
Sira Aymerich i Besalú : The performance is an intimate journey into the creator’s mind—an exploration of contradictions, desires, failures, and the internal struggles that shape us. It examines the tensions between the harsh and joyful aspects of existence, offering a raw and honest portrayal of the constant negotiation between instinct and structure, chaos and order, vulnerability and strength. It is an act of rebellion against the societal norms that confine the performer, unfolding as a feminist, poetic, stubborn, and paradoxical work. Blurring the lines between art and craft, it embraces contradiction as both a challenge and a driving force in the creative process.
La Pépinière : Why do you have to come and see YOUR show?
Sira Aymerich i Besalú : It is a performance where I try to aim to make the audience feel or question rather than simply observe and find pleasure. It seeks to immerse the witness in a world where art and craft, instinct and structure, rebellion and poetry intertwine. I hope that, upon leaving the show, people will have a glimpse of the immense power of the body—to trust it, to embrace its strength—but also to never forget its fragility when confronted with other materials, forces, and realities.

La Pépinière : Vous avez été sélectionnés pour participer au festival C’est Déjà Demain. En quoi une présence à un festival dédié à la jeune création est-il important pour vous ?
Sira Aymerich i Besalú : Être sélectionnée pour CDD.13 est un privilège incroyable et une opportunité cruciale, surtout après avoir obtenu son diplôme de La Manufacture. Il s’agit d’un premier pas important vers l’entrée dans le secteur professionnel des arts et, espérons-le, la construction d’une carrière. La participation à un festival dédié aux artistes émergents est inestimable, car elle offre une rare plateforme pour présenter notre travail, rencontrer d’autres professionnels et avoir un peu de visibilité. C’est un tremplin essentiel pour vivre de mon travail plutôt que de compter sur des emplois secondaires. Des festivals comme ceux-ci sont essentiels parce qu’ils créent des espaces où les jeunes artistes peuvent être découverts, s’engager avec un public diversifié et contribuer au paysage artistique. Ils permettent également au public de faire l’expérience d’un large éventail de voix, reflétant les questions, les préoccupations et les visions créatives de notre génération.
La Pépinière : De quoi sera-t-il question dans votre spectacle ? Pourriez-vous le présenter en quelques mots ?
Sira Aymerich i Besalú : La performance est un voyage intime dans l’esprit du créateur : une exploration des contradictions, des désirs, des échecs et des luttes internes qui nous façonnent. Il examine les tensions entre les aspects rudes et joyeux de l’existence, offrant un portrait brut et honnête de la négociation constante entre instinct et structure, chaos et ordre, vulnérabilité et force. C’est un acte de rébellion contre les normes sociétales qui confinent l’interprète, se déroulant comme une œuvre féministe, poétique, têtue et paradoxale. Brouillant les frontières entre l’art et le métier, il embrasse la contradiction comme un défi et une force motrice dans le processus créatif.
La Pépinière : Pourquoi faut-il absolument venir voir VOTRE spectacle ?
Sira Aymerich i Besalú : C’est une performance où j’essaie de faire ressentir ou questionner le public plutôt que d’observer et de trouver du plaisir. Elle cherche à plonger le témoin dans un monde où l’art et l’artisanat, l’instinct et la structure, la rébellion et la poésie s’entremêlent. J’espère qu’en quittant le spectacle, les gens auront un aperçu de l’immense pouvoir du corps — pour lui faire confiance, pour embrasser sa force —, mais aussi pour ne jamais oublier sa fragilité face à d’autres matériaux, forces et réalités.
